I love Wrapping Paper!!
|
You may recognise the style of some of this 60's wrapping paper, from childhood presents. I found all these interesting wrapping paper snippets from a great book called 'All Wrapped Up! by Kevin Akers . The wrapping paper of this era is inspired by 'popular culture and sentimentality'. I really love the simplicity and design of the children's wrapping....and I especially find amusing the pictures of the housewives and their manly husbands!!
A Hallmark pattern of man's best friend imitating his master (above)
The circus comes to town!! Stunning illustrations similar to that of 'Where the Wild Things Are' artist Maurice Sendak.
Wrapping paper with a little childhood imagination, like these flying saucer's in a space theme, similar to our Outer Space wall stickers.

I have always admired designer Tord Boonje from the Netherlands for his amazing laser cut products and delicate artworks. Here is an example of a few of the different mediums he works with.

Until dawn
Petit Jardin - Laser cut steel, zinc and white powder coating
Fallen Flowers - Laser cut microfibre for a curtain or screen
Little Field of Flowers - Dye-cut wool
Table Stories - Glass candle holder
Our Fairy Dance MOVEABLES wall stickers feature little laser-cut-like patterns within some of our animals - like the little deers!!

My Label Collection
|
I have to admit that I do love to collect quirky clothing labels, especially kids tags that are form-cut or different in any way. Here are a few from my collection...Nanui (surf brand), Big by Fiona Scanlan, Kid Mambo (velvet finish), Sosooki, Run Scotty Run (very cute doggy) and the more detailed and laser cut Katherine label.
We currently have a label for our Organic Baby range...but of course I would love to do a Little Chipipi car cut-out someday!!

The Stars Shine All Day Too!
|
Designer Robert Ryan always brings a smile to my
face. He is a man with a social conscious as well as being a skilful craftsman.
Whether it is a vase, teatowel, tile, handkerchief or money box Robert Ryans
designs always have a clever insight into the human psyche. All of his intricate designs are cut by hand.
A Londoner,
Robert Ryan’s papercutting artwork is soon going to be seen in wallpaper and
showcased in a new book, ‘A Sky Full of Kindness’.

Glow Town wall stickers cause a buzz!
|
One of our favourite things is revealing new styles at the trade fairs. This last Life in Style fair was no exception. The product that created the most buzz was the Glow Town Moveables.
The glow in the dark feature caused lots of excitement. We love that the stickers look fabulous during the day but have that wow factor at night for kids and adults! This has been a product we have been looking forward to releasing for a while...can't wait to see photos of these on the walls of our customers :)

Organic is Best!
|
'There are many benefits to organic baby clothing (and bedding), and one of the main
benefits is the softness of the fabric.
This is because organic cotton tends to have longer fibers and creates less friction. Babies' skin
can be very sensitive, and softer fabrics will irritate their skin less. Another important feature of organic baby clothing (and bedding) is that it contains no formaldehyde.
Chemicals such as these are sometimes used as finishing agents on
fabric. The use of formaldehyde in clothing has been linked to asthma and rashes, so organic clothing is a better choice for those with
sensitive skin. It is also believed that organic fibers help babies
suffering from eczema, especially if the garments are worn at night.
